Nara’s Path To Inculcation

“Twenty-four pages in twenty-four hours. Impossible.”  That’s what I kept telling myself as the time got closer. Two years before, I had made an attempt, only to finish 2½ pages after 16 hours and to give up in frustration. I figured I should at least give it another try and learn from my previous mistakes.

Just before noon on October 1st 2011, our group of artists descended on Planet Chaos Comics in Fort Atkinson, WI who had graciously offered us space in their expansive tabletop gaming rooms. I equipped myself with my (un)trusty Tablet PC to draw with, and my MacBook Pro to bang out the lettering and formatting. I chose to stay with pencils only.

Powered by pizza, caffeine, the steady stream of thumping techno beats from my iPod and the camaraderie of other artists all in various stages of sleep deprivation, I managed to power thru and finish all 24 pages with a half-hour to spare.
